Sea Anemone Blue and Purple Encaustic Sculpture

This artwork titled Sea Anemone in the past was classified as an animal, but now from two new genetic studies, these water-dwelling creatures are technically considered half plant and half animal. Inspired by a type of sea anemone called heteractis magnifica is a place for fish to dwell and thrive. My version here sculpted in encaustic beeswax, reflects a healthy anemone at the bottom of the ocean so a variety of fish can have a vital place for their habitat.
