Oceanus Transpectus I (Ocean View I)

This 8-piece sculpture installation composed on top of a single white lab table and each sculpture inside a clear vitrine case, shows the effect of ocean acidification called “bleaching” on four types of corals; cabbage corals, trumpet corals, hammerhead corals, and barnacles. Displayed as museum specimen samples, it portrays bleaching with healthy full-color corals juxtaposed with “bleached” white sculptures in natural beeswax color. Installed with gallery lighting, the sculptures have a natural internal glow gives the corals the sense of living organisms. Floor composition with enough walk way for the audience to move completely around the installation.
